Part 1: Online Assessment (70 minutes)
Mathematics (non-calculator, 20 minutes) | Multiple-choice testing on reasoning, problem solving and comprehension.
English (comprehension, 30 minutes) | Reading comprehension based off small extracts.
Non-verbal Reasoning (10 minutes) | Multiple choice online questions testing spatial and visual reasoning.
Verbal reasoning (10 minutes) | Multiple choice online verbal reasoning questions.
Part 2: English Writing (30 minutes)
Short story inspired by a photo or prompt. Story must be structured in paragraphs and will be assessed on creativity, vocabulary and accuracy. This section is handwritten.
Other examined assessments
Interview (10 minutes) | Short informal conversation with a teacher to understand your child's interests and passions.
Group Activity (20-30 minutes) | Assessed group activity which assesses curiosity and teamwork abilities.
Class Learning | Classroom-style assessment task evaluating how pupils follow instructions, engage with learning, and adapt in a structured setting.

We begin with an initial assessment to identify strengths, gaps and priority areas. This allows us to tailor preparation from the very first session.
2. Weekly Structured Learning Plan
Each student receives a personalised plan aligned with the Perse entrance requirements. Tutors create bespoke lesson content and targeted homework.
3. Targeted Exam Practice & Mocks
Students work through 50+ licensed & hand-crafted exam papers, and unlimited online practice tests that replicate the real assessment format, all while tracking performance to ensure steady improvement.
A mock-up of what The Perse may see in the new online exam by Quest Assessments. We replicate this through our own standardised scoring system.
4. Interview & Confidence Coaching
Beyond academic preparation, we prepare students for interviews and group activities, building confidence, clarity of expression and thoughts, and readiness for assessment day.

Having joined The Perse in Year 7 myself, I understand both the academic standard required and the level of confidence students need to perform at their best on assessment day. The entrance process is demanding, but with the right structure and preparation, it becomes far more manageable.

Begin learning and consolidating core concepts in Maths and English from the Year 6 National Curriculum. Try initial placement test with their tutor to find out what needs improvement.
Start preparation of verbal and non-verbal reasoning sections. Complete mock exams online to measaure progress.. Mock interviews and personal statement are completed. Strongly reccommended to visit a Perse Open Day:
